Non-linear forecasting banned!


Hey, here's a good one for the statisticians
and climate scientists.
The government of North Carolina has forbidden the use of non-linear forecasts for the effects of climate change on their sea-level! Only linear forecasts allowed... See a news report in USnews or listen to the short BBC news report on the subject on 1 June 2012 (player below) .

Advice for life: "Do what you like doing!"

Xavier Sala-i-Martin of Columbia University in New York and the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, talks to Manel Fuentes on Catalunya Radio about Pep Guardiola's passion for his work and goes on to encourage young people to choose in life what they like doing, not what might gain them the most money.  This fantastic piece of advice, so well put by Xavier, is in Catalan, but worth transcribing into English, which I'll try to do soon!
